I need drums for my monomachine!

hey,
I have a sfx-6, I will use the analog outs for a mixer and the mono midi for drums.
Either analog drums or a sampler.
any suggestions?
the vermona has 8 drums and the mono only 6 seq lines, so that is not ideal I guess.
thanks!

The Vermona works pretty well with the Monomachine. The 6 midi tracks is not a huge problem, as you can always play
multiple drums on one track. When I had them both, I never used all the 8 drums at the same time anyway.
There are a few examples of the Monomachine/Vermona combo on my Soundcloud page (Barfunkelizm and Is It A
Dream are probably the best of them), if you want to hear the two in action.
Other than the Vermona, you could wait for the new MFB drum machine, which is due to be out in the next few months.

When using 1-2 tracks on the MnM for hihats/fm percussions, Jomox MBase + MBrane might also be a serious choice.
Both sound really good and you can get more out of them then just 2 drum lines when using p-locks or several midi
tracks per device.
Sampler: mpc, or maybe just an ipad+beatmaker2/dm1? I'm currently thinking about getting a mpc again, the 500 would
be sufficient, to sequence jomox modules which nicely respond to velocity!
The MBase I would almost call a no-brainer, no matter what else you might get (except when it's a jomox drum machine,
of course).

You can find an MPC relatively cheap these days via Craig's List and stuff like that. Just for drums, I think it's one of the
best bangs-for-your-buck right now (plus you also get the bonus of using chops if you want, to add some extra flavour to
your jams).
Peace

i used the vermona drm for a while with my mnm, and while i liked it, i also found it a lil' limiting (though, you can

seriously get a wide range of sounds from it). 
i have since been using a sp-505 for drums and a sp-606 for other sound effects. they're great machines in that they're
SUPER easy to learn.

but I want the drum module to be without its own sequencer.
I guess vermona, but m-brane is cool.
hmmm
that could be dope. But I want drums without presets really, so vermona then maybe..:P

the vermona is amazing, its up there with the analog drum machine greats,
its very punchy n fat, 
i used the mono and vermona for a long time, 2 tracks is easy, 3 is best, ,, its not bad at all,
its a noticeable difference, its great, i noticed dead mau5 uses a vermona, not a fan, but he can use anything, and he
uses it,

Well, since no-one's mentioned it yet - DSI Tempest. A bit expensive, maybe, but incredibly well sounding. If I wasn't
such a sucker for the Machinedrum sound, I'd go for the Tempest, personally.

I probably get the tempest some day, but for this setup I want drums sequenced by mono to play with mono - so mono 6
outs to mixer, maybe vermona and a cool 8 channel mixer.

Any suggestion on a mixer and eventually some cool bus effects for it?

and don't worry about the no of midi tracks. MnM polyphony is easy. You can program all 8 sounds from one track if you
want to

the tempest is way over priced, it dosent even sound good, its boomy n weak, i was really surprised i wanted to like it, i
like dsi stuff a lot, my evolver is one of my fav synths of all time,
but the tempest, has a hard time doing drums, the analog side is weak, its a mediocre drum machine and a worse synth,

there are many vintage analog drum machine samples for free here:

i know this isn't quite on topic, but anyway, thought i would mention...
in particular, if you understand the MnM, the OT is a lot easier to get wild with.

Thanks for the sample tip. Nord Drum is a cheap alternative. Pro: really excellent drum sounds, very programmable, easy
interface, 4 analog trigger inputs + MIDI e with it. I thought the mono output was insane but I have to admit I frequently
leave all my drums panned into the center anyway and then use an LFO or a ping pong delay to give it some dimension
plus a lick of reverb. If you're writing club party music there's always the possibility that the sound system is wired for
mono anyway. So it's not a total bust in that sense. 
On the other hand, the reason it's so cheap is that nobody's buying them. Clavia pitched it as something you could use to
beef up an acoustic drum kit for cheap by adding some triggers but it doesn't seem to have taken off.

^^ This, a sampling sequencer (UW or octatrack, to stay in the spirit of this forum) and a computer running audacity for
prepping the samples..?
That setup could keep me busy for years.

well, if you want to use "only" the 6 MIDI tracks of the MnM (the MnM itself too of course) and have individual outs plus a
wide range of sounds, why not go modular and choose some 5-6 really fine drum-modules + MIDI...
might be a little more expensive than buying some expander, but in the long run it could pay off in terms of sound,
flexibility, modulation capabilities etc.
had the jomox airbase 99 for quite some time- soundwise it is great, but the OS is quirky and editing is cumbersome.
MAM ADX-1 could be a match though, if you find one.

get a spectralis, it sounds amazing, has a better sequencer for for drums too,,,
the patters can be longer, they can all be different speeds n resolutions,
and the best, u can set probability per step, that may not sound like much, but it basically means that 1 pattern can go
indefinitely and never repeat, u put many triggers to make a role, but with low probability on each, then every-time it
plays different triggers, so it never sounds the same, amazing and easy,

It will include monomachine - drums - and a mixer and maybe a looper

reason why it has to be self contained? i would think, best sound, easiest and most versatile, would be the best,
besides, with the spec, u get an analog hybrid that sounds much better then anything the mono can do,
i had a spec for like 6 years, i want one again,
