EARLY DECISION PROGRAM OPTIONS
Colgate offers an Early Decision program for those candidates who have identified Colgate as their first choice. Both Early Decision options are
binding programs.
Candidates for Early Decision to Colgate University may not apply for Early Decision to any other institution and must agree to withdraw all other
applications for admission upon notification of acceptance to Colgate. Accepted students must also pay a non-refundable deposit of $500 within two
weeks after acceptance.
Early Decision candidates may be considered under one of the following options:
Option I Early Decision Option I candidates who apply by November 15, and submit all required materials, including this Early Decision Agreement
signed by the student, a parent or guardian, and the counselor, will receive notification of Colgate’s admission decision (acceptance, deferral to
reconsideration under regular decision, or denial) in mid-December.
Option II Early Decision Option II candidates must apply by the regular admission deadline, January 15. Review of Early Decision Option II
applications will begin in mid-January. A student may convert a regular decision application to Early Decision Option II by submitting this
agreement, signed by the student, a parent or guardian, and the counselor, at any time up until March 1. Early Decision Option II decisions
(acceptance, deferral to reconsideration under regular decision, waitlist, or denial) are released from mid-February through early March.
STANDARDIZED TESTING
SAT or ACT for students choosing to submit their scores, as well as English proficiency exams (if applicable), should be completed by early
November for Early Decision Option I candidates. Option II candidates should complete testing by early December. We recommend that all Early
Decision candidates have official reports sent directly to Colgate by the testing service.
FINANCIAL AID
If applying for financial aid, U.S. citizens and eligible non-U.S. citizens must submit both the CSS Financial Aid Profile at collegeboard.com/profile
and the FAFSA at https://fafsa.ed.gov. All non-U.S. citizens applying for financial aid must submit the CSS Financial Aid Profile at collegeboard.com/
profile. Candidates applying for financial aid must submit all required documents by November 15 for Option I and January 15 for Option II.
I am a candidate for Early Decision at Colgate University and agree to abide by the conditions described above. If admitted through either Early
Decision option, I will immediately withdraw applications at other colleges and universities and will enroll at Colgate.
Please submit completed form by email ([email protected]) or by fax (315-228-7544).
